She has hundreds of thousands of fans all over the world. She has been interviewed, photographed and quoted in international publications. Her blog receives millions of hits daily. Fashion model she is not. What she is, however, is a teen queen who is amassing hoards of followers universally on her shoe-loving website.
At a mere 17 years of age, Jane Aldridge is nothing like your typical teen. Hailing from Texas, USA, she has killer looks that can make any heart melt and a slender figure that fills up her designer togs nicely. Her good genes come courtesy of mummy dearest Judy Aldridge, a former Japan-based fashion model and now clothing designer and vintage retailer at Atlantis Vintage. Jane is used to showing off her idiosyncrasies and original style in eccentric clothing selections and tasteful footwear.
If anyone is going to be crowned the “Teen Queen of Shoes”, then Jane would win hands down. As an author and creator of her blog “Sea of Shoes” (http://seaofshoes.typepad.com/), she has single-handedly collected a wide mass of computer-literate fans, who religiously follow her fashionable travels (most of the time with mum), bargain-hunting experiences and of course, new shoe purchases, through short story-telling paragraphs and photo essays. Grown women, teenage girls, and even a few men have dropped comments on her posts – all combining bliss, agony and envy for a sweet, young thing who has accomplished so much, all for the love of shoes.
A peek into Jane’s shoe closet will have any shoe-lover turn green with envy. She has what one would call a “Sea of Shoes”, literally. In here, one can find styles that are exotic, vintage, avant-garde and always chic, ranging from brands like Chanel, Yves St. Laurent, Stella McCartney, Givenchy, etc. Her collection of shoes is artfully parked in their own showroom – her bedroom closet and awaits her daily selection.
Forget about Devils Wear Prada or reality shows like Project Runway. There’s nothing better than the real deal. Here comes a new documentary on the making of the September 2007 issue of Vogue, staring Anna Wintour as herself, slated for release in September 2009.

Ever get the feeling that you’ve somehow been plunked into a Disney cartoon? Or at least dropped into the wardrobe for the female leads to some of Disney’s most popular movies such as Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast? Well Paperdoll boutique and its owner Joanna Saw is just that. Part fantasy, part reality, 100 percent whimsical charm.
Tell us something about yourself. I’m 26 year old Leo with a fashion fetish, a first time business owner, an avid chef, a karaoke enthusiast, a spendaholic, andto top it off a retarded romantic.
Why the name Paperdoll? Well my mother’s to blame really. She’s the one who got me hooked onto fashion the moment she started drawing paperdolls for me to play with, and worse still when she started buying books upon books of paperdolls from all over the world. Also because I sometimes it seems that I am very much like a paperdoll with my closet full of clothes. I mean, who doesn’t feel like that when you really, really, really think about it.
Tell us a little about your boutique concept. Well firstly I wanted to bring a bit of New York City back to Malaysia with me, while throwing bits and pieces of the stuff I’ve collected from my trips aboard (Europe, Asia, Africa) which have inspired me, into its design. I didn’t maximize the space I rented because doing so would have taken the whole traditional NYC boutique concept and thrown it down the rubbish hatch in an instant, therefore I was sure to make it as cozy and quaint as the one’s I frequent when I’m in New York.
Eclipse defies the woeful and depressing mood all around us due to the recent financial crises by channelling rock ‘n’ roll to give a lil “oomph” to the Spring Summer 2009 collection. Designed to give a strong message of optimism, the collection is rebellious and sassy with vivid, bold colours. High shine jerseys, matt rayons and acetates, all meticulously nipped and tucked hog spotlight of the collection. Adding embroidered pailettes onto the fabrics to give the collection an extra rich summer sparkle. Not forgetting, show stopping and traffic stopping dresses. Bandage dresses with non-constricting corsets come in bright colours or classic black. It’s a sexy feminine with a defiant edge, this collection was inspired by Henri Matisse’s “The Dance”.
