AN INTERVIEW WITH DANNY ROBERTS
Danny Roberts is merely 23 but he is a talented artist with his artwork already featured in many publications worldwide. At the tender age of 13, he started his own clothing company with the help of his friend. In college, he studied Photography and Fashion Design. Now, he is a busy busy man. Collaborating with other artists, such as Sophie Ward and Stacy Dupree, he is juggling many projects at hand. Ever since he was a little kid, he has always been attracted to creative projects and art. Drawing for up to 15 hours straight on some days until his hands were swollen, I guess one would have to attribute his success to purely hard work and determination

How long have you been illustrating? I’ve only been illustrating professionally for a year. I’m starting on my second year right now. Do you always have a flair for drawing when you were young?
I always would draw and doodle ever since I was a little kid, but to quote my mom, “You always drew, but you were never very good at it.” It wasn’t until a few years ago when I decided to practice everyday that I started getting better. I would draw some days for 15 hours straight till my hands were swollen shut. It’s only been the last few years that I’ve started getting into a grove with drawing. You mentioned about starting a clothing company at the age of 13.
Can you tell us more about that and what happened?
Yes, I started a clothing company when I was 13. I ended doing it till I was 20, but then I got to a point where to take things to the next stage, I needed to get investors, and I decided it was a little too early in my life to get into debt, so I decided to leave that door open, and pursue fashion illustration.
Your illustration is quite unique, is this technique you learned or something that you create yourself?
Yeah, it is kind of funny, but when I illustrate, it is kind of like handwriting; whenever I draw, it always comes out looking like mine. It’s nothing I try to do, it just is my style. I guess that’s the only way I can explain it. It develops daily.
